Calvary Chapel Doctrinal Statement
and Style of Ministry
The Calvary Chapel Church of Syracuse been formed
as a fellowship of believers in the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
Our supreme desire is to know Christ and to be conformed into
His image by the power of the Holy Spirit.
We are not a denominational church, nor are
we opposed to denominations as such, only their over-emphasis
of the doctrinal differences that have led to the division
of the Body of Christ. We believe that the only true basis
of Christian fellowship is His (Agape) love, which is greater
than any differences we possess and without which we have
no right to claim ourselves Christians.
In order to identify Calvary Chapel as conservative
in theology and evangelical, we set forth this general statement
of fundamental beliefs:
- We believe the Bible to be the inspired and only infallible,
authoritative Word of God. Therefore, our ministry emphasizes
the exposition of God's Word from Genesis to Revelation,
line upon line, precept upon precept.
- We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in
three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
- We believe in the deity of Christ, in His virgin birth,
in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and
atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection,
in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in
His personal return in power and glory.
- We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful man,
regeneration by the Holy Spirit is essential, and that repentance
from sin and acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior
is the only way to come into relationship with God.
- We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the
lost: they that are saved unto the resurrection of life
and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
- We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit,
by whose in-dwelling the Christian is enabled to live a
godly life; we further believe His power and gifts are available
to believers today.
- We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our
Lord Jesus Christ.
